Learn more about two of our treatment approaches below.
What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of mental health treatment that gives clients coping skills to help them manage their emotions more effectively.
CBT gives the client tools and strategies to help them change their thinking, behavior, and ultimately emotions so as to improve their life.
Research has shown it is an effective therapy to treat a range of psychological concerns, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction issues, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and trauma, to name a few.
CBT works under the premise that problems develop in one’s life due to inaccurate or irrational thoughts and unhelpful patterns of behavior.
Together with your therapist, you will identify these patterns of unhelpful thoughts and ways of acting and work to create new, healthier thoughts and behaviors.
With consistent effort and repeated practice, new patterns emerge and difficulties, such as anxiety and depression, decrease.
DBT for Teens
At Mindful Behavioral Health, we are currently offering a virtual Multifamily DBT Skills Group for teens and one or both caregivers. Contact us to learn more about our comprehensive DBT services for teens.
What is DBT?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of mental health treatment dedicated to helping individuals who often feel out of control of their emotions feel more in control.
Rather than experiencing life and one’s emotions in a polarizing black and white way, DBT teaches individuals to live life with a dialectical balance of acceptance and change.
This treatment empowers individuals with coping skills including Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Dialectics.
Comprehensive DBT is comprised of four components:
Weekly individual therapy
Weekly DBT skills group therapy
Phone coaching as needed
Weekly consultation team for the therapist.
DBT for Adults
For individuals seeking an Adult DBT Skills Group, we do not currently offer our own DBT skills groups, but we regularly collaborate with practices that do, ensuring our clients receive comprehensive DBT.
